On Friday, 8th-Grade Science and Physical Science students were in the lab learning about food chemistry, including fats (lipids), emulsions, and phase conversions.
Heavy whipping cream has a lot of fat dispersed in water. When it is vigorously shaken, the fat molecules clump together, forming a solid mass of butter, while the liquid (buttermilk) separates. The more the cream is shaken, the more these fat molecules clump together, forming a solid, which is the butter.
This process involves a phase conversion from a dispersed emulsion (cream) to a continuous fat phase with dispersed water (butter).
Not only is the science fun, but the butter tastes good too!

8th and 10th graders had the chance to visit Warrensburg Area Career Center. Students got to go to the construction site first and then on to the building to tour the other programs. Students got to shave balloons, help build a frame, take dents out of a car, and learn about drones. As a bonus, some of our current WACC students were there to give us our tour.
Kindergarten screening will be held Monday, April 21, 2025. If your child, or a child you know who lives in the district, will be 5 by August 1, 2025, please call the office and set up an appointment. You will need a copy of the child's birth certificate, shot record, proof of residency, and social security card.
Last week, we had the privilege of welcoming many professionals into our building to share their careers with our students. A heartfelt thank you to the adults who generously gave their time for such a meaningful cause and to our FFA Chapter for organizing this wonderful event!
